Last Post of 2017

I kinda didn't want to have the last post for this year be the Christmas post, so I just want to do a bit of a small reflection for the year.

Besides 2012 (since I started blogging in December 2012), I don't like the fact that I wasn't as active as previous years, with the last few years having between either 90 to 100 posts throughout the year. I know I wasn't as active this year, but I still think we had another decent year on the blog.

I still posted a ton of artwork, whether it was old sketchbook pages, finished illustrations, character drawings, comics, etc. I'm kinda kicking myself for not posting much when I finished my semester, but I took these last couple of weeks just taking it easy.

I still have intentions to post some art I did this last semester, update my character line-ups, and finish that animation. I have a ton of other things in mind that I wanted to do, but I'll reveal those in due time.

For now, I want to wish you all a Happy New Year!
Come back at midnight on January 1st! I have a post scheduled when the clock strikes midnight tonight!

I guarantee I'll have more content posted in January!

Holiday Break!

Hello everyone! I finished the semester about a week ago!
Lately I've been winding down from school and whatnot; a friend of mine helped me upgrade my Adobe programs to CC 2018, and let me let ya that going from Animate 2015 to 2018 was a HUGE step up! Hopefully it should speed up the workflow for my current video!

I'll go back to posting artwork on the regular again, though since I was so busy with school I don't have a lot of personal artwork done, so I'm a bit limited in that area.

I will, however, start by posting some stuff I did this semester in my art classes...in the next post. I hate to be a tease like that, but I've got to go through my stuff and set up/arrange artwork and blog posts.

Also, I was thinking of going through all of my blog posts to set up labels so it would be easier to search up any old posts from years before for future generations.

Old Sketchbook Pages 19

Happy December everyone! We'll be starting off this month with the last set of old drawings and pages from an old sketchbook of mine.

First page is probably the only sketch I did to show off the futuristic setting for 2422; enjoy it while it lasts. With that page features another drawing of that rejected character I brought up the last time. Second page is a redesigning process of Mandy's dress, and the third page is another first sketch of the futuristic setting for 2422; enjoy it while it lasts.

And with that concludes this peak into one of my old sketchbooks! Of course, not every single page was shown off, and these pages aren't exactly the actual final pages in this book, but I think I've provided a pretty good idea of what's inside this sketchbook.

Hopefully soon I'll start posting pages of my last recently completed sketchbook!

We're nearing the end of this sketchbook!

Here's some full pages of doodles of the alien character Nevadri back when I was figuring him out. The last image is a character I created to fill in the gap of the small cast of male characters for the Propinquity character line-up.
Sadly, he was never implemented into the cast. I try not to force characters into anything unless they feel like they naturally fit well with others and contribute to the overall story.
This character was neither of these things.

Post-Thanksgivings Update

Hey! How y'all doin'?

Ugh, I hate inactivity on this blog! But I'm sure you guys know that since I always complain about it and seem to not put any effort into posting stuff, but hey, this always happens with school is in session. That's college for ya!

I still haven't gathered up any material to post yet, but I know I have something lying around on my flash drive. I'm currently redrawing the Propinquity line-up so it doesn't look like I drew it a year ago (I mean technically I did.) It's undergoing a huge overhaul at the moment and progress is slow. I'll be doing the same overhaul on the Class of 2422 line-up as well.

Hopefully when I have the time, I'll continue/finish up my latest animation! I was planning on completing three videos this year, but I haven't even completed one yet and it's almost December, sooooo...

I'm planning to post some material from the final projects I'm doing for my classes right now; I think you might enjoy 'em. I was able to get some nice classes for the Spring 2018 semester! I don't show it on here, but I'm always creating! Whether for fun or for a grade!

That's all I'll share for now. Still have a ton more in store that I want to work on/share!

Hair Tying Jenny

Sorry about the lack of updates lately! I'm currently busy with school (as per usual) and I don't have much of my own work to post as of yet; I'm still trying to create/gather up my own personal material to post on the blog, so to hold off more inactivity from the blog, here's a quick drawing I did last night of Jennifer tying up her ponytail

Currently I'm redrawing the Propinquity character line-up so the drawings are more up-to-date, deciding how I'll post all my Inktober drawing on here (whether each dawing gets their own post, or all at once), looking for any old artwork I haven't posted on here yet, and I'm gathering pictures of old drawings from my last last sketchbook.

Co2422 Line-Up: Shoes Addition

Back with an update for the "Class of 2422" character line-up!
This time they have properly designed shoes!

I have another version where some of these characters have an alternate attire (along with their set  of fitting shoe designs as well), but I'll post those another time.

Halloween's back again, which means that I bring yet another drawing to celebrate this spooky season! And what's spookier than you and a best friend dressing up in the same costume? How about that your best friend is dressing up as YOU for Halloween?

Ooof, that's scary. Especially if it's an annoying friend that did that. Oh well, sucks to be Mandy right now!

Old Sketchbook Pages 17

Back again with more old drawings! For the 17th time!

Before you go on, I wanted to let you know that I'll be stopping with posting pages from my old sketchbook for now! Once I'm less busy, I'll continue with posting more pages since we're about half way through with this sketchbook!

I have an old doodle for a vehicle, the Japanese title/logo I came up for my "Propinquity" series, a full page of doodles which include Nevadri, a hoverboard, and Marilyn.

Regarding the Japanese logo, it reads "Tada Nakama," which means "Just Friends" or "Simply Friends." Normally, the word "friend" in Japanese is "tomodachi," but in this context it's a term that means friends, comrades, allies, etc., but with a stronger connection(s) towards one another. With this context, it can pretty much (in my opinion) be along the same lines with propinquity's definition. The logo is not the final design, but it definitely won't be that intense-looking; it'll most likely look like its English counterpart.

The first page are initial character concepts for an idea I'm currently playing around with. I really enjoy drawing their crazy tall vehicle truck car thing. Obviously, I'm still trying to work things out here. The second drawing is just a cartoon me using hologram glasses.

The third image is an old character I was gonna add into the Propinquity line-up, but ultimately decided to drop since he never worked out.

First post for October! Speaking of October, I've decided to partake in the Inktober challenge! I'm currently posting them on my personal social media pages, but I'll be sure to post them on here later. School's been keeping me pretty occupied and I don't have much easy access for updating the blog.

The Blogger app sucks a ton, but using Blogger on a mobile interweb browser is totally perfect, so I might use that.

Without further ado, here's more fun doodles from the past! (at least I think they're fun)

I think around this time was when I was messing around with redesigning Jake's hairstyle? It seems I'm never satisfied with any redesign for his hair. Heck, even now I'm considering changing it again!
But as you can see, we have a small drawing of Princess Daisy from the Super Mario series, Jake, Danny, and another short-haired Alyssa.

Marilyn's New Album - Cinnamon Delight

Being that one of the characters from the "Class of 2422" series, Marilyn, has a knack for creating music and performing on stage, I figured I ought to create what her first album cover should look like. I recently imagined she would create her songs during the duration of the series and release it sometime before her Senior year ends.

I'm no songwriter myself, but now I feel like I'm left with the task of creating what kind of songs she'would create. But I do have the ability to create visual art!

I've always imagined this would be it for the longest time. I thought it came out pretty nice.

When can you get your hands on the actual album? Sometime around the summer of 2422!

There's some good ones I like in this set.

The first picture is a drawing of a character from an old idea I kinda revived privately, then died just as quickly. One of that idea's main concept is still alive as another idea that I'll hopefully reveal later down the line.
The top half of the second picture is something I'm messing around with in my own time, but I really like the idea of an alternate universe where my characters have opposite personalities.
The last one is a mischievous-looking Daisy. Do not trust the Daisy with a face like that.

The twelfth post featuring more old drawings from old pages from a time long ago!

Nothing much to note here, unless you guys never knew that Jake loves practicing magic tricks. If didn't know that, then guess what? Jake likes performing magic tricks.

New Series! Mr. Ridiculous!

I recently went ahead and started the creation and development of a new series I've had sitting in the back of my mind for the last several years!

The idea for "Mr. Ridiculous" came from a dream I had a long time ago where I dreamt of a group of over-the-top villains broke into a small museum building that had a waaaaay bigger interior, and they pulled off really unnecessarily ludicrous maneuvers in order to steal the prized Blue Diamond. At the same time, another rival group of villains were also trying to steal the same thing. I also remember the city setting it took place in was also really surreal as well; it's actually pretty weird that I remember this dream in the first place!
One thing I don't remember from the dream, however are the characters; that leaves me with the task of creating and designing the characters for this idea from scratch which is fine by me!

Ultimately, the premise for "Mr. Ridiculous" is a group of outrageous villains led by a ridiculous leader (hence the name) on a quest to be the "most evilest" super villain group in the world! I won't be showing off any character sketches or concepts at this time, but I will show off the logo, which is a temporary design

Of course, once I have something ready to show off I definitely will, but currently I'm working on the character designs and such. Look forward to that!

We have Danielle freaking out about Halloween with Jake not helping the situation at all, Daisy in her costume redesigning process next to Alyssa with a different costume change and a small pony-tail, and lastly we have Daisy excited to find her new T-shirt has arrived in the mail. I know it's not known that well, but I created a fictitious band that Danielle and Daisy are huge fans of, named "Explosive Snow." You'll see more of the band later.

More and more to share!

More playing around with new cartoon styles. I'm still currently doing that now; I'll show off more recent experimentings later down the road.
Next up, we have a sassy McDonald's worker followed by more Danielle drawings. Lastly, we have an old concept of a nerd bullying around a jock. Looking back, I really like the idea of reversing the roles here. Maybe I'll go back to it some time.

Another one. Another one. We the best.

Here we have some old doodles of Marilyn, Kate, and Ted back in the old days. Ted's had a major overhaul since I initially added him to the line-up. Looking back at Kate, it's kinda funny to realized that she went through different hairstyles behind the scenes; I had a tough time settling on a good hairstyle.
Now we see two small drawings of Marilyn, and a futuristic vehicle design that I saw online somewhere. After that, we have ourselves some interaction between Mandy and Sally, again sporting the old design. I really like playing around with the interacting between those two. I really ought to do more of that.
