Brand New Doji Pocket Website!

Hey hey hey! It's been awhile! I'll be honest, I haven't been doing a lot of drawing lately. I've been doing some sketching to prepare myself to unveil a new story project that I've been really obsessing over for the past few months.

But that'll be for another time! It's time to announce something great!

I've been sitting on the Doji Pocket domain name for a little over a year and haven't done anything with it...until now!

Introducing the new Doji Pocket Website!

It's going to serve as a sort of landing page with links to this blog (which will continue to be active), links to all Doji Pocket social medias, and will soon have dedicated pages to the cartoons I've created that will serve as sort of a one page show bible.

I created the site with Google's free site builder, Google Sites, and was building it on and off over the past year figuring out the layout and the type of content that can be added.

More pages and content will be added soon, but for now, be sure to bookmark it! I'll post updates here on the blog if any new pages or content is added!

Blog Update: More Labeled Posts and Removed Posts

A long time ago (like two years to be exact), I mentioned that I went through and added labels to all my posts for easy categorizing and organization...except for some.

Those unlabeled posts were mostly just blog updates, life updates, and silly posts that I didn't want to label at the time since the main focus was to label posts that relate to my art, animation, and story ideas.

As of right now, I just finished going in adding labels to those miscellaneous posts. They have been tagged with labels such as "blog updates," "life happenings," and "silly nonsense." These posts can be found in the label listings on the right.

And because I went through my old posts again, I took the liberty of removing posts that were rants, thought dumps, just links to videos and articles, and older works that no longer have a place for this blog.
They haven't been deleted though! I simply reverted them back to drafts, so they still exist; they're just hidden from the blog. A few of them lost their original date/time published info because Blogger is stupid, but the post links at least still remembered the month and year of when they were published.

I removed these posts because frankly, they were posts I made when I was younger. I don't want these posts to surface if anyone decides to dig deep into my blog; not that I have anything to hide, but they were kinda cringe and don't hold up. Also, I've noticed that sometimes they'll still get views for some reason and I wanted to put a stop to that.

That's all for now!

Update on Things

Hey! Feels like it's been awhile since my last post.

I've been pretty busy with other things during this month. Because of that, I am very behind on December's animation practice. As a matter of fact, I just started on it yesterday! I'll be sure to speed along process on that so I can start fresh on 2021's set of animation practices.

Speaking of 2021's animation practices, I'm going to start being more experimental with the topics and things I animate for this year, whether it's animating in a new style or animating a new cartoon style. The monthly practices started as way to get myself animating and giving myself frame mileage and personal deadlines to reach, and for 2020 I've mainly animated things that's very familiar to me. And I've gotten good at that!
Of course, there were some new things I've done here and there in 2020 and 2019, but I want to focus more on new and experimental things for 2021. I'll explain myself more in-depth about it when I post January's animation.

Also, I'll be removing a couple of sub-pages here on the blog. Most notably the "Cartoon Archives" page and the "Austin and Jennifer" pages. If you're interested in seeing those old drawings, you can go through them by exploring the "drawing" label.

List of topics and labels are in the right sidebar below.

...and with that, I'll be back with a new animation soon!

Blog Update: Topics and Labels

Hey! Here's a neat update regarding the blog.

After almost eight years and over 500 posts later, I've made the very late decision to add labels on almost every single post! They sort of act like hashtags; you can click on a label at the bottom of a post and it takes you to a page with all other posts that are linked/related to the same topic.

One reason I decided to do this is for the ease of finding old drawings, concepts, ideas, and whatnot relating to my current story projects. Who knows? Maybe one day one of these ideas will finally turn into a popular show or something and one can go back in and literally see the progression and development of said show/idea.
It's also nice for me to go back in and find older content whenever I feel like seeing my own growth/change for myself and these ideas, sort of like a time capsule.

Now notice I said almost every single post has been labeled. A lot of older posts (especially between 2013-2015/16) are more on school assignments, personal life updates, small rants and ramblings, and sharing outside content. Those posts have not been categorized, but I'm planning on going back and creating labels for those particular posts; for now, I mainly wanted to focus on posts relating to drawings, sketches, animation, and story ideas that I'm actively working on.
I'm glad I decided to do it now so I can label old posts that were about Propinquity and Class of 2422 before they became the more developed version of Propinquity and Class of 2422 that they are today!

On desktop (and mobile I think) you can find the list of topics and labels under "The Blogthor" bit on the right side of the home page. Hope this'll keep posts more organized for the future!

The Bird is the Word (Updated Links Page)

At the start of this year, I thought it'd be a good to separate my personal social media accounts (some of which that go by "Doji Pocket") and split them, so that I may have a definite difference between my personal accounts and my Doji Pocket accounts.

With that said, I've created a Twitter account for Doji Pocket!
Follow it here @dojipocket!

Also, I've created another tumblr blog that's more focused on my cartoons, drawings, animations, etc. Follow it here! dojipocketoons@tumblr. As for the first tumblr blog, I'm gonna make it more personalized for myself and give the "dojipocket" name to the tumblr blog linked above.
Edit 1: The "dojipocketoons" link doesn't work anymore. Try this link now.

Hopefully with this kind of separation, I'll be able to run my own personal social media more freely and at the same run the Doji Pocket accounts strictly for my cartoons, drawings, etc. only, so it wouldn't be mixed with all of my other nonsensical interests.

I'll try to update the Page of Links with these links and arrange them accordingly within the next few days. The links to my personal social media accounts will no longer be in the page anymore, but you can still find them through the Doji Pocket pages if you just look hard enough.

Edit 2: The Page of Links has now been updated with all current links to my Doji Pocket social media! Now it has 200% more humor than ever before!
Expect some of the social media pages to be treated and updated differently since I tend to use some social media pages more than others.

The "Cartoon Drawings Archive" Page is Back Up!

I took down the page about a month ago for reasons, and now it's back!
And it's updated with all the drawings that have been posted for the past month!

Enjoy! The link is also in the sidebar to your right.

Regarding an Older Post...

The stats for the blog seem to show favor for a post I created back in my junior year of high school titled "Of Mice and Men Alternate Ending."

I have no idea why this post seem to show a high amount of views, but I'm just going to put out a warning right now that the link to the document I shared on that post will be removed by around Friday of this week.

Of Mice and Men Alternate Ending (LINK REMOVED)

As I've mentioned before, my English teacher assigned the whole class to write an alternate ending or extra chapter to John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men.

Now, even though this blog is created to share my artwork/drawing/cartoons/animation to anyone with an interest with what I talk/share about, it doesn't have to be about all that; writing is a an art too, you know. Or is it?
It is. It's the craftsmanship of sentences.

Back to the subject, I felt extremely proud of what I created, since I treated this assignment like as if it was my own project, like with a passion.
I got it back graded on Friday, so out of 200 points, I received 185 points, which is great considering that's an A on the grade ranking that my teacher wrote on the board.
The teacher deemed it a bit "unrealistic," but I don't care. I'm just glad how it came out!

*edit: The link for the assignment on creating an alternate ending for the book Of Mice and Men has been removed. Nov. 7, 2014

Blog Update

Just a quick update for you guys.

1) I've added a page view counter on the blog. I don't think it'll stay very long though; I'm planning to remove it once it hits 1000 views.
2) I have also added two links on the top, which will take you to my satellite blog on Hatena Blog and to my barren YouTube account, which I still plan to post something on there later this year.
3) Lastly, I've added a translator widget on the blog, so for anyone from a different country viewing my blog (for some weird reason), they'll be able to read it in their own language. Warning: the translation might not be totally accurate. Google Translate is a little sketchy with translation sometimes.
The main reason I added the translate tool is because I receive a decent amount of views from Germany, Ukraine, and sometimes from South Korea for some reason...

Comment Settings

Unrelated to the subject for this blog, but....
I realized that I had the comment settings to "Registered Users." I don't know why it was set to that, but I've finally set it to "Anyone (including anonymous)"
So now anyone should be able to post comments on the blog.

Finally!

Finally!
After a long time of debating whether to start up blog or not, I finally went out and started one! Ah yes, having a blog online. It's like owning a small piece of land on the Internet. You can do almost anything you want with it.
Hopefully, I'll use this blog often. I'll try to update it whenever I can and whatnot. So far, I'm new to the site and just exploring and playing around with the settings.
So for now, stay tuned.
