Happy Halloween 2023!

The big spooky day is back!

On top of doing a full 20 page Halloween comic, I had to squeeze in a simple Halloween illustration which, of course, ties into the comic.

For a limited time from October 31st through November 3rd, I'll be offering a full PDF download of my comic for free over on dojipocket.com! You can find the link to the page right about here!

After November 3rd, the comic will have its own dedicated page here on the blog site.
It will also still be viewable on my Instagram and Twitter pages at @animatedslacker as well.

I'll make another post here when the comic gets its own subpage page here on the blog, but for now, get on out there and get your spook on! Happy All Hallows' Eve!

New Comic Book Announcement

I got exciting news to share!

I usually create a simple illustration for Halloween every year featuring some of my characters from the different story projects I got going on.

HOWEVER! This time, for this year, I decided to go with creating a comic! A whole 20 pages of comic starring Mandy and Sally up to spooky Halloween shenanigans!
And (I think) it came out amazing!

I pushed myself to create this comic from script to panels in about under a month to get it completed on time for it to be posted for the Halloween weekend. I am really happy to create something that looks like a very real comic book once everything was all put together!

The whole comic will be posted on my Instagram and Twitter account (@animatedslacker) in sections starting on October 27 through October 31st, with four pages being posted daily during that time interval.

Currently, I'll be posting small sneak peaks leading up to October 27 on both my @animatedslacker and @dojipocket accounts. Links to my socials are on the "Page of Links."
Of course, when the whole comic is fully posted, I'll post the whole comic here on the blog for everyone to read, all free!

Follow me on Instagram and Twitter @animatedslacker to follow the lead up to the comic!

October Animation Practice - Pumpkin Haircut

I'm back with October's animation practice!
In this short bit, a pumpkin meets with a barber. I wonder what kind of stylish cut he will get? This time around, my voice acting makes an appearance.
Besides the fun joke that plays out here, I wanted this month's animation to look like an animated comic strip, complete with word bubbles and everything. Right from the start, I gave myself the non-serious challenge of completing this animation in less than a week; I started this one a few days before Halloween, so I was aiming for a completion date of either October 31st or November 1st/2nd.
Obviously I never hit those dates as I finished this on the 11th.

Going back on this looking like an animated comic strip, I drew it out initially as a rough comic strip (or a storyboard) to have a base for the pumpkin designs and how it would play out. Here's that rough strip:
I had a completely different idea for October's animation, but I feel like that idea would bring the animation to be about 30 seconds to about a minute long. Anything at that length would be qualified to be posted on my YouTube (which I promise I'll update with a new video whenever I get the idea/chance.)
As a matter of fact, I'm still unsure if I should post these animation practices on the Doji Pocket YouTube channel. Maybe as a compilation? I dunno yet.

I currently have no idea what to do for November's animation. Guess we'll see what I come up with next month!

Rac n' Cat

So with this whole "coronavirus" nonsense happening, my classes moved online and I've been stuck inside for the past few weeks. From this situation, I got an idea for a short comic strip.

I haven't drawn one up in forever, so I was excited to start one and was glad with the end result
Will this be a one off thing? I don't know yet; drawing a cat and raccoon character was pretty fun, so maybe.
I would like to do more comic stuff in general, so I hope I'll get around to that one day.

Cancelled Web Comic - Failed Test

Last one!
Funny enough, this comic is making its first appearance here! I was planning to post the picture-taken black-and-white image version of this comic long long time ago, but decided against it. Here it is!

Hopefully, the next web comic series I create isn't a rehash of things.

Cancelled Web Comic - Verified Online

Hello! Sorry about that weirdly long hiatus! Some unexpected thing came up, which forced me away from publishing anything on the blog. I've been working on some stuff while I was away, and now I'm happy to be back! Soon, I'll show off what I've done lately!

*********

I don't know if people still have a weird desire to be verified on Twitter or any social media place, but this comic goes out to all those people.
I'd like to take this time to follow me on Twitter @dojipocket.
Don't worry, it's actually me.

Cancelled Web Comic - The Rise of IQ

Howdy y'all! It's been forever since I last posted the last comic strip in my cancelled web comic! Since October as a matter of fact! Sorry 'bout that! The last one was titled "I Spy My Crush," so now the next one is "The Rise of IQ!"
Just remember that all these comics have appeared here before! This web comic was simply a selection of some of my favorite comic strips I wrote, and redrawing them in Photoshop with full color and slight dialogue alterations.

I cancelled it because recycling stuff really wears me out, and I don't know why I decided to attempt something like this.

More soon! I promise!

Cancelled Web Comic - I Spy My Crush

Comin' at ya again with another colorized cartoon.
Again, if you ever follow the things that have been posted, you'll know that you're seeing these drawings for the second time. They're merely cartoon drawings I've posted, but have undergone a redrawing and coloring process.

Even though I ditched the my original plan for these drawings, I really love how nice they came out. Who knows? Maybe I'll do more redrawings/colorings just for fun.

Cancelled Web Comic - Spare Change

Second comic!
You know, ultimately I am a bit disappointed the idea of rehashing these drawings and comics didn't go through since a lot of these look really great all nicely drawn and colored!

I know I could just simply redraw and color these comics without having to publish them and whatnot, but then again I'm not big on rehashing stuff. This is all proof that I ultimately really dislike recycling content.

However, I'd love to start another web comic like "Austin & Jennifer," but I'm totally busy and in focus on working and developing my two current series.
Speaking of which, I forgot to post the finalized logo for the two.

Cancelled Web Comic - Autobiographies in Time

Alright, so for the next eight (or more) days, I'll be posting a comic strip of sort of what would have been a planned web comic.

As I know I've mentioned before, this web comic I had in mind is an exact rehash of those cartoon drawings that I post here, but they're colorized with slight alterations. The purpose of that was to introduce my comics and funny drawings that I've drawn in my sketchbook to on another platform besides this blog.

One of the reasons as to why I ended the project was the lack of motivation since I was basically recycling content (but I was totally aware of it, of course), and as time when went on, I realized how much recycling and doing the same exact thing for another audience was kind of a dumb idea. Second, a lot of other dumb things kept getting in the way of continuing the progress, like school. Thirdly, I've realized too late about Tapastic's ideal formatting when it comes to comic strips, and I was simply lazy about going back and reformatting everything, but by then I lost motivation to keep going.

Ultimately, I was going to start publishing after I finished 10 comic strips, but I have only eight completed, so instead of keeping them around collecting virtual dust on my flash drive, I'll be dumping 'em here! And other social media places, of course!

Here's the first one for now! I know I've posted this before as a preview, but it underwent slight alterations since it was last posted.
One down! Seven more to go! They won't be posted in any particular order.

I never came up with a title for this series, so in the title of these posts I'll just refer it to as "Canceled Web Comic - (Name of Comic.)"
