3D Background Models Preview

Hey hey! Back from another long disappearance! Busy busy, as usual.

I'm still working on my upcoming "Austin & Jennifer" comic book, and at this point in time I have a complete rough cut of the whole book which can be read from start to finish. Before I start the final line art, there were some background shots I roughly sketched in that definitely has to be fixed for the final line art.

Instead of guessing the perspective of those shots while drawing, I went ahead and took up learning the basics of Blender, a free 3D modeling program, and created basic models of the different environments featured in the comic.

I made a list of all the different environments, and just a few days ago I finally finished going through the entire list!

With that, I wanted to show off a preview of the end results:

Sure, there's no colors and lighting here, but the main purpose is to have a 3D set so that I can angle the camera view to my liking, snap a screenshot, and trace over said screenshot to get the perfect perspective of whatever shots I have in the comic.

Blender was a bit of a learning curve, but that curve wasn't too steep since I had taken classes on Maya, another 3D modeling program, some years ago, so it more of a matter of "translating" my knowledge of the Maya program with Blender.

There's still so much about Blender (and 3D modeling in general) that I'd like to learn more about and put into practice some day. If I ever get back into making animations and learn the grease pencil tool in Blender, I can probably make some killer-looking 2D animations!

My previous post mentioned that I was hoping for a 2026 release, but that's not gonna happen. I'm not gonna make any promises as to when the comic will be released since it's difficult to juggle between a dead-end job, GE classes, and just living a life overall.

I'm going to wait until I have enough progress to guesstimate a release window.

And with that, back I go into the unknown!

National Comic Book Day Preview

Hello hello! Back from the dead with a cool thing to show off!

It recently came to my attention that today, September 25th, 2025, is National Comic Book Day! And it just so happens that I'm working on a comic book! Can you believe it?

My last post (which was about a year ago, ouch) mentioned this fact, and it still holds true. I was hoping it would have been done by this year, but oh well. Stuff happens.

I'm aiming for a 2026 release, so stay tuned!

Anyways! Here's a work-in-progress preview of my upcoming comic book! Of course, everything is still in the rough phase and the art is subject to change.

Yes, I'm Still Alive!

It's been a while (I seem to always say this whenever it's been awhile)

It's been a slog of a year; I've been slaving away at my IQ-lowering job and sketching out my usual circle of characters over and over while working on newer characters and stories with nothing worth posting on the usual Internet pages.

I really hate to use the term "comfort characters," but I think I can't deny it anymore: I definitely have a gang of characters that I just love doodling the hell out of.

Maybe it's no secret that some of the characters of "Propinquity" have been my main source of comfort characters, and then some characters from "Class of 2422" were included, and then some from "Austin & Jennifer."

Speaking of which! Check this out!

I finally started roughing out the first comic book episode of "Austin& Jennifer!"

Of course, I have more than just the cover roughed out at this moment in time.

Maybe it's way too early to show this off since I just started roughing things out, but it's been too long since I updated any of my online pages since I had nothing to present.

...well, I did want to introduce a new story/character on my main online pages (since I've been hyped over this new idea over the past year), but for now, you can see this new character in action in a storyboard I completed very recently for my portfolio site located under the lunch lady board. Consider it a premature reveal for Trevor Centauri; a proper one will be out in the later future.

But hey! New comic book! I've never been satisfied with how I debuted "Austin & Jennifer" in the past, but I really hope this comic book finally does them justice! Again, maybe it's too early to say this, but I'm planning a three (maybe five?) episode run of "Austin & Jennifer."

Updated Austin & Jennifer Line-Up

Welp, it's done! For two characters, it took a pretty long time to update the line-up; I blame school. Take a look at the updated line-up below!

They may not look too different than the last time, but I guarantee you that I've spend a considerable amount of time with adjustments, including a small change in Austin's hair and the inclusion of more freckles on Jenny.

Besides the minor changes in outward appearances, I've also further fleshed out the twos' personalities, interests, and their clashing nature with each other.
I've really considered rebooting the comic series (for like a third or fourth time) to really show off these two in their daily lives, bickering, and more.
I really ought to do more comics for my characters.

Also, I've gone ahead and redesigned the logo as well! I made sure that the logo is very reflective of the Austin and Jennifer's ever clashing interests and personalities.

Overall, I really enjoy the outcome of this line-up's update! I really hope to show off these two in action in comic strip form again one day!

Now that I'm done with these two, I'm torn between moving to updating "Class of 2422's" character line-up or going full steam with developing "Mr. Ridiculous..."

Aust & Jen Line-Up Progress

I recently finished updating Austin for the line-up! Here's a side-by-side comparison:

The left is the older one while the right is the newer. There may not be much of a difference between the two, but the newer one is better drawn and more up-to-date, along with minor changes to the design.

At this point, I'm halfway done with the line-up (since it is only two characters after all.) I've also started with redesigning the logo for this series as well; I'm hoping to have everything all done by the end of this week.

Hey-ho! Oh boy! I've been gone for the entire month of May, haven't I?

Sorry about that! I'm myself surprised by how long I've left this blog inactive!
Anyways, here's something to make up for all that! A drawing of Jenny drawing!

I have been completed booked with school work during May! Because of that, I didn't do any sort of drawings for my own personal content to post here on the blog, and on my own personal Instagram account.

After this semester ended, I totally kicked back and vegged out for about a week. I recently started to kick myself back into doing stuff, and started by finishing the drawing above. It was 99% completed, so it was a good start to make myself productive again.

I'll definitely push myself to produce content to make up for that month of absence!

Hair Tying Jenny

Sorry about the lack of updates lately! I'm currently busy with school (as per usual) and I don't have much of my own work to post as of yet; I'm still trying to create/gather up my own personal material to post on the blog, so to hold off more inactivity from the blog, here's a quick drawing I did last night of Jennifer tying up her ponytail

Currently I'm redrawing the Propinquity character line-up so the drawings are more up-to-date, deciding how I'll post all my Inktober drawing on here (whether each dawing gets their own post, or all at once), looking for any old artwork I haven't posted on here yet, and I'm gathering pictures of old drawings from my last last sketchbook.

I know I don't post actual full pages, but to be honest some parts on some pages aren't that interesting to look at.

Old Sketchbook Pages 4

More interesting pages!

The first page is an old concept I was playing around with which involves turning those characters into superheros. I already have an episode idea that involves having superpowers, so those designs might be seen again way down the road.

Second page has some Splatoon hype and an angry-looking fish, and the third picture is one of the first few early drawings of Austin and Jennifer back when they had that design.

Love-Strucken Jenny

One thing I like about Jennifer is that she tends to fall in love with any good-looking guy she meets. Too bad she's kind of an awkward person to do anything about it.

Again, this character animation test also includes a bit of secondary animation for me to practice on, which is the stack of papers flying out everywhere. I think it came out looking alright. Another added layer of challenge that I tried to place on myself was that I tried to animate on 1's as much as I can, which is more apparent in the second half.
Looking at it again, I just realized I forgot to include Jenny's freckles on her face. How can I miss such a small detail?

I'm pretty satisfied overall with the final product! I'll try and start another character animation thing soon since it's so accomplishing to see a character finally animated.

Small Edit to the A&J Line-Up

I made a small design change especially for Jenny.

I've wanted to give Jenny's shirt a plaid design right from the beginning of the redesign, but was unable to at the time. Now it looks way more complete and better overall!

Austin & Jennifer Reboot!

Welp, I've finally gone back and reworked everything on this series.

As I've mentioned several times before, when I created Austin & Jennifer I was totally hyped at the time about finally launching some sort of web comic of my own. So excited that the characters were created in a rush with no development so I ended up with these static characters with no life in them. Because of that, I became very uninterested in my own series and discontinued it altogether.

HOWEVER! I've recently regained an interest in the series! As you've seen already, I've created a neat logo to go along with its revival:

Since I'm planning some sort of reboot, I went back to the drawing board and completely redesigned the main two characters from the ground up! Take a look!

The sporty brother and artistic sister have undergone a massive makeover in both design and character, so now they have more depth in character than ever before. I'm still working on them both, but we're definitely way way way ahead than it was when I canned this project. I mean just look at the new look they have! Way better than before by a million!

I currently do want to bring back the web series, however I'm still unsure whether to continue where it left off or start all over again (both of these options will still keep it as an episodic series.) These are the first two options I have.
The third option, however, sees the series coming back, but instead of being episodic it will tell just one singular story. I'm currently working on this singular story just to see whether I want to fully commit to this option or not.

Whichever option I go with, I'll still have the original comic strips of the series online.

Possible Comeback?

I thought I'd never return back to this particular series.
I told myself I abandoned it because it was a lost cause.
But recently, I got bored and decided to revisit this old series.

And hot damn.
It's coming out really great this time around!

Pulling a George Lucas

Hey hey hey, remember that one web comic that didn't work out?

Oh yeeeah, THAT one. The whole Austin and Jennifer thing!
Yeah, it's still cancelled.

I posted all the comic strips in the series on a separate page here on the blog. Somewhere around here...huh, I forgot where. They've been posted on that page in the vertical format that they've been originally published in, but I'm giving you a little heads up that I'm currently reformatting them in the classic horizontal comic strip form, along with typed out dialogue, and slightly tweaked art and dialogue. It's kind of like I'm doing what George Lucas did to Star Wars, but on a much smaller scale.

No one's gonna notice though because no one actually reads my comics...

Looking back at it, I'm kind of glad I pulled the plug on this web comic.
Let's face it: there was so much wrong in my perspective.
The two leads weren't developed enough to the point that they seemed like they acted natural together and could riff off each other, many of the jokes here were reused from other comic strips rather than its humor coming from these two and how they treat each other, I've could've done a better job at the character design; basically, it was all kind of rushed to get it out there, and with the bad mix of being really occupied with school, the interest to keep it running just died out.

Who knows? Maybe I'll bring this series back, but as for now, there won't be any new "Austin and Jennifer" comic strips any time soon.

I'll let you know when the page is updated with the newer versions of the comic strips.

The End of Austin and Jennifer

Currently, I have an ongoing series on Tapastic called "Austin and Jennifer."
"Ongoing" is not the right word since creating the series is almost impossible due to other responsibilities that gets in the way.

I've been thinking about stopping the continuation of the series. I've simply lost interest in creating more episodes. Because so much stuff gets in the way of making more episodes, I've became distant from my own series.

The last episode will be episode 15., which is published right now.
All the episodes are now posted on a separate page on the blog, which the link can be found on links page, or here.

New Austin and Jennifer episode!

Another episode for "Austin and Jennifer" is up live here at its Tapastic page.

I'm just posting what I have so far, which is like only three episodes so far, but it's something to start up the series' momentum again.

As I've mentioned, I've started drawing the strip in Photoshop now, and as I've previously shown off before, it looks great! I really love the fact that it has a bit of that "hand-drawn" look, not like before how it didn't have that natural looking look to it.
And another plus is that it's way easier to draw and color the episodes in Photoshop! It makes things easier on my part! The process is faster too!

Hopefully I'll have more done and ready to be published soon!

A&J in Photoshop: Part 2

Hell to the yeah, boy! I went back to remaster the upcoming comic for Austin and Jennifer, and it came out amazing!! I reduced the pen size and took the original colors from Flash and now I got a much better looking product!

A&J in Photoshop

I hate how the look for Austin and Jennifer came out in Photoshop. It's so yucky and messy. I guess I gotta get used to using Photoshop, but nonetheless I hate how it looks.

The Flash look looks cleaner than its Photoshop counterpart, but like I said, it's probably because I've got to get used to Photoshop.

Oh man, looking back at it now, I've realized that I have got to match the colors. Everything about drawing the strip in Photoshop simply came out too ugly in my taste.

Autobiographies in Time

Anyone who wrote an autobiography before the 1990's seems to have an interesting autobiography. With today's youth spending most or all of their time on their phone or playing video games, I worry about the future of autobiographies.
